The Huffington Post Will Now Give Away Its Tablet Magazine

After a free debut, the next four issues of Arianna Huffington's predictably named weekly iPad magazine, Huffington, were 99 cents each, with a subscription running big HuffPo fans $19.99 for a year of additional longform content. About 115,000 downloads later, the company is opting to go free again moving forward because "asking people to pay for the magazine was inconsistent with The Huffington Post itself," a spokesman told Capital NY. As for the lack of sideboob, give it time.

Don't Blame the Mail Service: Spin Magazine November/December Canceled

Spin Magazine's new owner Buzzmedia put the kibosh on the nearly thirty-year-0ld bimonthly music rag's November/December issue. The online media company that owns multiple properties including Stereogum and Idolator said in a statement: “Buzzmedia and Spin are committed to moving forward with print, but we are still determining exactly how print fits in with Spin’s multiple distribution points and growth initiatives." Also, about a third of the company's staff — 11 employees — got pink slips on Friday, including the print magazine's editor in chief. Perhaps Friday was also the day the music magazine's print existence died.
