Passengers on 500 trains found themselves stranded. Power outages spread throughout northern and eastern India for the second day in a row on Tuesday and now encompass a population of 600 million people. To put that in perspective, if a blackout hit all of the United States, Mexico, and Canada at the same time, it would still fall about 100 million people short of the people affected by India's electriciy failure. Then again, 300 million Indians don't have access to electricity ever, so for them, today is just another day in the life. Go home and hug your air conditioner.
